And moon! Doestoevsky called one of his stories &#8220;White nights&#8221; in reference to the long summer nights in St. Petersberg. It applies equally well to nights lit by the full moon, in the wild, where there\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s no competing light.<\/p>\n<p>Even in the summer when the birch and poplar are full of leaves, it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s so bright outside under a full moon that you can just about read outdoors. In winter, as at our last full moon, it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s even brighter, with the moonlight reflecting off the snow.
