Awoke this morning not long past dawn, a clear, cold winter day, the eastern sky still pink. Not that early at this time of year! As the sun rose, its rosy light touched the treetops, turning the frost-covered branches, every least twig of them, to pink. Lovely.<\/p>\n
And as if that weren\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t enough to make it a special today, a bit later three deer, a doe and two bucks, came out of the forest up the ridge and made their way quietly across to the trees on the downward slope. The bucks both looked alertly toward the house, but didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t hurry. Many years ago when my older daughter was visiting, we also saw several deer cross the ridge in about the same place. Later, we followed their tracks to a cedar grove on the east side of the ridge, where they appeared to have been sleeping. It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s probably still a cozy place for deer to rest!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
